Want a Chance To Win a Copy of “Happier at Home”? Now for the U.K., Too.

Happier at Home hits the shelves in less than a month! To celebrate, I’m giving away one book each day for the next few weeks–hot off the presses.

Enter your name and email in the sign-up form here, and every day, someone will be picked at random. Open to readers in U.S. and Canada–and now the U.K. as well! I heard from so many readers in the U.K. that my publisher there is also going to join the give-away.

If you’re wondering about the book, you can…

–learn more about it here

–read a sample chapter on the subject of “time” here

–email me for a one-page reading group guide here

listen to a clip from the audio-book here

pre-order the book here (pre-orders give a big boost to a book, so I really appreciate pre-orders!)

–watch the Behind the Scenes video here (though you’d probably enjoy that more after you’ve read it)

What a joy it was to write this book! I hope you enjoy it.

I have been waiting for your new book to come out and I will eagerly nip down to Waterstones to pick it up if I don’t win. The Happiness Project helped me so much Gretchen. THank you.

    • gretchenrubin

Thanks very much! I so appreciate that.

Gretchen, do we have to enter every day or just once? I loved your first book and I’m looking forward to this one! On a side note, I’m so happy you chose to endorse “Young House Love”, that’s another book that I’m looking forward to. I know some of their readers “found” you after they enthused over your book on their blog. I have to say, I LOVE the internet and how circles interconnect, it’s so interesting.

There’s a new drawing every day, so you do need to enter every day to be considered.

I know, interesting how everything connects! I love the internet.

Gretchen, your last book was great!! Why not to give the chance to know the new book to brazilians, too??? hehehe… All the best for you! Success!!!

  • Love your book! So many things to ponder about (as well as laught about)! Are you releasing your new book in Europe anytime soon?

  • Simone

I hope to be able to get the book in the Netherlands soon!

LOVE the video, Gretchen! It is just great and has a special warmth that you create by letting readers into your home.

    • gretchenrubin

I’m glad you liked it! It was really fun to do.

  • Erin

I LOVED your first book, and am so looking forward to reading the second.

    • gretchenrubin

Thanks so much! That’s so nice to hear. I hope you enjoy it.

I just finished your first book and I’ve already noticed a change in how I look at situations and deal with the things in my day-to-day life. If just reading through your book can do that much, then I’m definitely going to organize a happiness project for myself. By the way, it was amazing when I was reading that so much of how you described yourself, also described me. It was a little scary, yet comforting, that I wasn’t alone. I read one early passage of your book to my mother and she was laughing at how it sounded like me.

    • gretchenrubin

I’m so happy to hear that my work resonates with you. Especially since it sounds as though we are very much alike!

I’ve just got to bookmark this site – I run across it, enjoy it immensely for a while, and chase butterflies somewhere else, only to lose my moorings! I love your concept, and am anxious to read both of your books. I have a long held belief that if one pretends to be happy when they aren’t, the blood chemistry will catch up with behavior, and true happiness will follow.

Hooray, we can enter in the UK, even though the from still says Canada and USA i went for it as you advised. Thanks!

    • gretchenrubin

Oh shoot, I forgot to change that. Yes, U.K. is fine. I’ll update the form. Thanks for your interest!

For me, this meant getting up earlier to read from a daily meditation book (my favorite is “The Book of Awakening” by Mark Nepo) and writing about my reflections on the reading and other thoughts. I have to write my gratitude list, and my one sentence journal (love it, Gretchen!), at night because my morning brain isn’t good at remembering all the goodness from the day before.

I’m letting go of the idea that I’ll be one of those people who will get up early to exercise. While I intellectually know it’s better to get it done, I emotionally love staying in bed in the mornings until I have to get up for my reading/writing, getting the kids ready for school, and getting myself together for work.

Not watching the Today Show in the morning has helped me tremendously. I’ve learned to put it on the DVR to watch snippets in the evening.

I pre-ordered the book m-o-n-t-h-s ago. Long before I knew that when the book would reach me, it would be to a new address, a new city and state, and a new lifestyle. Isn’t life FABULOUS?! I am going to move into the home of my dreams and your book will arrive at the same time!!!!!!!
