Each year on the Happier with Gretchen Rubin podcast, Gretchen and her sister, Elizabeth Craft, create a yearly challenge as a fun and manageable way to build a new habit. For 2026, the challenge is Move 26 in ’26. Each day in 2026, move for at least 26 minutes. Walking, stretching, running, yoga, dancing, gardening, cleaning, swimming–all types of movement count.

Research consistently links regular physical activity to better sleep, clearer thinking, reduced anxiety, and—perhaps surprisingly—more energy. These benefits come from any kind of movement, not just traditional forms of exercise like jogging or cardio.

These prompts are designed to help you discover new ways to move, experiment with what works, and have some fun in the process. Join us in making 2026 a year of more movement, more energy, and more happiness.

About

Cassandra Aarssen is the dynamic force behind Clutterbug®—a globally recognized organizing brand that’s transforming homes and lives with a no-judgment, real-life approach to decluttering.

Once a self-proclaimed “super slob,” Cassandra turned her own chaos into clarity, building a wildly successful career as a sought-after organizing expert. After years of struggling with clutter and organization, Cas realized something that would change her life forever; she didn’t organize in the traditional way.

Just as Gretchen Rubin believes there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to happiness, Cas  believes the same is true for organizing. The key is to find an approach that works for you.

As part of the Move 26 challenge, Gretchen Rubin and Clutterbug have designed a fun way to pair movement with decluttering. Take 26 minutes and tackle as many items as you can, or break up your 26 throughout the day. Ten minutes of clutter-clearing before work, and 16 minutes after dinner still add up. Join the scavenger hunt today and see how many items you can clear off the list.
