Hello, Recently, I was lucky to get to go to Canyon Ranch Lenox to talk about Life in Five Senses for the 92NY’s “Spark Your Health” immersion experience. (FWIW anything billed as “immersive” immediately grabs my attention). I had a great time talking about the power of the five senses—plus I got to invite a group to share in the magic of ketchup. My sister Elizabeth came with me, and for the first time in a long time, we slept in the same room. There’s a particular kind of comfort that I feel with my sister (and parents) that I don’t feel with anyone else, not even my husband or daughters. I can’t quite define what that element is…I must ponder. Reflecting on this question led me to re-read Robert Frost’s poem “The Death of the Hired Man,” which left me overwhelmed. If you’ve never read it—or if you have read it—it’s worth your time. “Home is the place where, when you have to go there, They have to take you in.” “I should have called it Something you somehow haven’t to deserve.” |
