Try This at Home
This week’s suggestion comes from our friend and former producer, Kristen Meinzer.
Among other things, Kristen is co-host of several popular, award-winning podcasts: By The Book, Movie Therapy with Rafer & Kristen, Innovation Uncovered, When Meghan Met Harry, and We Love You & So Can You. She’s also the author of the terrific book So You Want to Start a Podcast: Finding Your Voice, Telling Your Story, and Building a Community That Will Listen (Amazon, Bookshop), and the co-author of How to Be Fine: What We Learned from Living by the Rules of 50 Self-Help Books (Amazon, Bookshop).
And she’s our former producer! Here are the three of us before the second Happier live show, five years ago in Seattle.
Kristen’s suggestion is to practice some “movie therapy.”
Kristen’s Tendency
Obliger.
Happiness Hack
Store all those accumulated tiny trinkets and fun little toys in toy jars.
I have glass apothecary jars, but wish I’d bought plastic jars like these instead.
Know Yourself Better
Do certain situations send you into “shock”? I go into edit shock and shop shock.
Gretchen’s Demerit
When working on a piece of writing, I tinker endlessly with my favorite parts, but postpone working on the bigger, tougher questions. Even though I know perfectly well that working is one of the most dangerous forms of procrastination.
Elizabeth’s Gold Star
Elizabeth gives a gold star to the Bravo app. She’s working so hard these days, it’s great to know that she can get her Bravo whenever she needs it.
