A Little Happier: My Friend Told Me, “I Was Practically Addicted to Doing Good Deeds.”

A friend went through a very tough time, with a lot of rejection — and I asked her how she’d dealt with it. She told me, “I was practically addicted to doing good deeds. It was the only way I could make myself feel like I wasn’t a total loser.” This is a great example of my Second Splendid Truth:

One of the best ways to make ourselves happy is to make other people happy; One of the best ways to make other people happy is to be happy ourselves.
Do good, feel good. It’s really true.
