Introduce a note of whimsy. A little whimsy is a way to poke fun at yourself, lighten a difficult situation, or just make life more light-hearted.
Happiness Hack
If you’re having trouble getting out of your own head, or getting relief from your worries, listener Lee suggests tuning into one particular color in your surroundings to create mindfulness. Given my own obsession with color — sparked by our discussion of “choose a signature color” in episodes 71 and 75 — I particularly loved this hack.
I’m so obsessed with color, in fact, that I’m working on a little book about color, My Color Pilgrimage.
Interview/Four Tendencies Tip
We had a great conversation with the team from the hilarious, thought-provoking podcast “By the Book.” Our own producer Kristen Meinzer and co-host Jolenta Greenberg came in to discuss how the Four Tendencies affects their work as a team. Jolenta is a Rebel, so test your knowledge of the Four Tendencies — Kristen is likely, then, to belong to what Tendency? If you guessed Obliger, you’re right! Rebels almost always pair with Obligers. There are many strengths, and some challenges, to this kind of partnership.
Don’t know if you’re a Rebel, Obliger, Questioner, or Upholder? Take the quiz here.
We mentioned the interview we did with Manoush Zomorodi, which is here.
Elizabeth’s Demerit
Elizabeth desperately needs a new laptop, and she bought one months ago, and has never even taken it out of a box. We discussed this kind of “incomplete upgrade” happiness stumbling block in episode 72.
Gretchen’s Gold Star
I finally figured out how to back up my phone on my computer. Major personal triumph.
